Building on Six Months of Healing
Posted on November 26, 2025 by Brandon Boorsma
Two blogs ago, I shared what six months of personal therapy taught me: naming feelings, slowing reactions, and speaking from “I” instead of “you” changes everything.
Last post, we saw how Lethbridge couples turn those same skills into partnership superpowers.
Today, one focused idea: the best thing you can bring from individual healing into your relationship is better communication.
Here’s a simple bridge you can try out together.
- Pause & Name (from personal work) Before speaking, take one breath and silently name what you feel. “I’m flooded” or “I’m hurt” beats an angry outburst every time.
- One Sentence, Soft Start (the couples upgrade) Turn that inner label into a gentle opener: “I’m feeling overwhelmed right now and need a minute” instead of “You never listen!”
- Curious Check-In (the magic glue) After you share, ask: “What’s going on for you?” Then actually listen. Most fights end when both people finally feel heard.
That’s it. Three steps that move pain into repair.
Try it tonight: one pause, one soft sentence, one curious question.
Small words, big healing.
Warmly, Brandon
